We Give Back
The Flaherty family hails from Galway, Ireland and to honor our family roots, Flaherty’s Candy has always tried to give back in many ways. Dennis Flaherty is a gregarious Irishman who is known to give out candy to strangers at gas stations, workers at convenience stores, and other people he meets to put a smile on their faces and brighten their day.
We have incorporated this philosophy into our Irish Candy Co. by giving back to many communities throughout the Midwest where we produce our pop-up candy shops. Through our affiliation with Unity Point hospitals in Rock Island, Illinois and Muscatine, Des Moines, and Bettendorf, Iowa we are able to donate funds to many hospitals. We set up our retail pop-up shops and donate 15% of our proceeds back to each hospital to be used for nursing scholarships, warming blankets for cancer patients, and other items for patient comfort.
In St. Louis, we participate at the Botanical Gardens’ Best of the Missouri Market. Our booth fees help to support their botanists for worldwide scientific research, caring for plantings at the Gardens, and helps to fund the entire nonprofit organization.
Our Junior League shows in Kansas City and Indianapolis are not-for-profit shows and our booth fees and donations help to fund their special programs for children and mothers. We have participated and given back to this show in these shows for over 20+ years.
In total, we are able to give back on average nearly $6,000 annually to various organizations in the Midwest and are happy that our support makes a difference in many area communities.
